What are your thoughts on long distance relationships and/or dating a man with kids?

I had a long-distance relationship 16 years ago, before free long-distance minutes or cell phones in the general population. We met at a science event, but lived 2000 miles apart. He started calling a few times a week, then every day; and we’d talk for at least an hour each call. The best thing about it for me was that, because there was no physical relationship, I knew he had to like me for my personality – for what was “on the inside”. Too many men I had dated wanted a physical relationship before we knew each other well, and that completely turned me off. My long-distance relationship and I have now been happily married for 15 years. He is my best friend.
